Karen Roehl began her art career in Denver as a graphic artist and eventually, with 20 successful years under her belt, she decided to submerge herself into fine art.
Now known for her paintings inspired by abstract expressionism, Karen has work in many private and national collections. Her color palette ranges from monochromatic to very colorful and within her works you will find intuitive mark making amid layers of thoughtful design elements. Karen is a faculty member of the Art Students League of Denver and participates often in many group and juried exhibitions throughout the Denver area. In more recent explorations, Karen combines elements of realism with her abstract expressions using the horse as her subject and inspiration. Rendering these majestic animals within emotive abstract backgrounds, Karen seamlessly melds these two very different genres.
Karen has participated in Evergreen Fine Art’s renowned Weekend in the West for several years, and won the People’s Choice award for her entries her first year. She also has the honor of her work being accepted into the Coors Western Art Exhibit for 2015, 2016 and the upcoming 2017 show.
