Light Shows of Nature
Artist Reception and Gallery Talk:
Saturday, May 7, 2016, 2-5 pm
Of all of Nature’s infinite impressions, perhaps none endure longer in the heart than those etched and erased in a single fleeting instant. For “Light Shows of Nature”, opening on May 7 at Evergreen Fine Art Gallery, award-winning Colorado oil
painter Pem Dunn has frozen the sun in its course, and captured its luminous ephemera for more leisurely appreciation.
“I see these transient lighting effects that are only there for a moment, and then they’re gone,” says Dunn, an Evergreen artist long prized by collectors for his perceptive Western landscapes. “This exhibit is a way to share what I see with others.”
Featuring glimpses of passing glory from Wyoming to Colorado’s western slope, “Light Shows of Nature” will include 20 of the sun’s most enchanting caprices, from shimmering golden avalanches thundering silently through canyons of the Tetons, to a humble stand of lupine embroidered from root to blossom in silver. “Some of the pieces are grand, but many others are quite intimate.”
