Living in Pine, Colorado, yet born in Montana, Nura received her education at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. She has always been drawn to the dynamic contours of the human form and its reflection of the inner person. The mystery of the human nature, in all its complexity, continues to inspire her. Andi loves to travel and finds in other cultures rich varieties in the human pageant.
In every work by Mascarenas, there is a story being told, a narrative distilled from a single moment but part of something far grander and ongoing. "I am a student of life. I am always looking for a way to tell the story better." Painting the figure is always central in her work. She has found that painting gives energy to her sculpture and sculpting gives energy to her paintings. She experiences her world with form and color.
