Carl Chapell

Daddy Long Legs
Bronze, 14x12x12 inches

The source of Carl's creative energies stems from his love of nature which was nurtured during his childhood growing up in Michigan. In 1981 Chapell entered the first show bird he ever carved in the Ward Foundation World Carving Championships in Ocean City, Maryland. His piece won Best in Category and third best in the Puddle Duck category, novice division.

The following year Carl carved a life sized Tundra Swan and won best in the world overall in the amateur division. The regents of the University of Michigan offered him an entire PBS television series. The "Wildlife Woodcarvers" show aired for eight years.

Chapell is collected by T. Boone Pickens, Tom Brokaw, and George Anderson to name a few.
