Class Description:
The purpose of these classes is to improve the student’s level of painting through achieving a greater understanding of composition. These classes will be primarily focused on how to compose a painting by analyzing and simplifying the scene before us. The classes will lead you to produce a number of works that can be used as studies or complete later in the studio as more finished paintings.

Class Description:
Marjie will be your guide through all the stages of composing that special landscape piece you’ve wanted to paint from initial composition and layout on through to completion. Classes will be most inspiring to beginners as well as continuing artists. No previous knowledge of pastels is required. Emphasis is on opening up to expression as well as learning techniques and the “bones” of a great piece of art. |

Class Description:
Ned will work on both drawing and painting the varieties and subtleties of animals and their habitats. This is a specialized class with a high emphasis on demos, discussions and critiques. We will start with the foundation of any successful representational work or drawing and then proceed to working with oil paint and learn effective techniques for depicting fur and feathers while creating an illusion of form and solidity. Drawing, composition, color, rendering light, materials and painting techniques such as glazing will be covered. Working in the studio with mounted animal specimens as well as the benefits and setbacks of photography in animal art will be discussed. Also discussed will be animal habitats and how to incorporate them into painting with a full day devoted to outdoor painting and creating effective landscapes. Students will benefit from lectures, critiques and plenty of demonstrations.

Class Description:
Plan to join pastel painter Terrie Lombardi in this inspirational, fun and relaxed floral workshop. This indoor class is open to all levels of students. Students learn and practice composition, values, color and building of pastels, edges and finishing. Terrie has developed her own vision and gutsy application and technique of pastels, which enables her to compose still-life images which demonstrate a rich, expressive use of color and value. Her class will emphasize teaching the technique of using turpenoid and pastels to create an under painting before adding layers of pastel to finish a beautiful painting.
