Artist’s Statement:

“I strive for my images to convey a deep stillness and peace that I wish to experience both by painting and by viewing. Creating a quiet place where one’s spirit may rest and reflect on it’s own innate stillness, remembering our connectedness through the grace of natural beauty.”

Profile:

Growing up in California with the influence of an artistic family, Marjie’s first career was as a graphic designer for Crown Zellerbach Corporation Headquarters in San Francisco , specializing in the design of speaker support presentations. Upon leaving the corporate environment she delved into the world of the healing arts while continuing her interest in fine arts. As a fine artist Marjie has painted in several mediums including acrylics, gouache, oils and pastels. Working with pastels predominates in her passion "I am intrigued with the flexibility and immediacy of pastels and love the soft effects I can get with them. I’m a very tactile person and I like using my hands in direct contact with the medium and the surface."

Marjie has studied at the San Francisco Academy of Art, the Sahli School of Art, Denver Art  Museum , Denver Botanic Gardens , Denver Art Students League and Foothills Art Center . .
